Expression of Interest – General Manager, Operations

We are seeking expressions of interest for an experienced General Manager, Operations to join our team. This senior leadership position will play a key role in strengthening SAWCAN’s systems and supporting the delivery of regional health outcomes across the Eyre Peninsula and Far West Coast of South Australia.

The Role

The General Manager, Operations will report to the Executive Manager and oversee a small but growing team, including the Research and Data Coordinator, Regional Workforce Lead, and Communications Lead.

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading organisational systems improvement and business process development
  • Overseeing IT initiatives, contract management, and compliance frameworks
  • Managing HR functions, including recruitment, performance, and staff development
  • Supporting finance management, risk management, and reporting to Directors
  • Building strong relationships across the SAWCAN member organisations and with external stakeholders

The position is offered as a 12-month contract, full-time (37.5 hours per week), with a base salary of $117,117 plus superannuation. The role can be based in Ceduna, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Yalata, Oak Valley, or Adelaide. Regular regional travel will be required.

  • A deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and ways of doing business
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and the ACCHO sector
  • Strong operations management experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
  • Expertise in HR, contract management, risk, and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively, build strong networks, and manage competing priorities
